The Chenery family
We chose Gumnut Dance originally for Sophia – she was going to a different dance studio and she found that it was a lot of pressure and a competitive environment. We wanted to find somewhere that was fun, where she could just enjoy herself and learn and move.

We chose Gumnut Dance for our girls as we were looking for a relaxed, fun and friendly environment where our girls could try a range of dance styles without the pressure to perform. I chose Gumnut Dance because I met Justine and thought she was lovely and friendly and I thought she’d make an excellent dance teacher…. and then when we started we realized as a bonus there was no compulsion to do big, fancy dance concerts. And the teachers were all super lovely and the mum and dads all really nice, so we just kept coming. We’ve had a great time.

I love this dance school because they let the kids be kids. No crazy makeup and costumes here- the kids are having fun and learning that dancing is joyful! Justine and her team are great at what they do. The new venue is fabulous.
Our daughter is about to start her third term at Gumnuts; we love it there. The school’s philosophy of not subscribing to the high pressure, over the top, tutus make up and uniform hairstyles was exactly what we were looking for. Dancing for fun. Sure they’re learning new skills and moves, but it is first and foremost fun
Is it possible to give more stars? This dance studio has been the best experience for my daughter as it promotes body positivity and a joyful dance experience. The staff are warm and friendly and looked after my (initially nervous) girl from her very first class. The Director went out of her way to be welcoming and supportive, and we have been so pleased to see how our daughter has grown in confidence since starting these classes. Thank you Justine and team – you are extraordinary and I have nothing but praise for your beautiful studio.

Such an amazing dance school. No makeup or big concerts, just a lot of fun for the kids. The teachers are amazing.
Edited to add: have also had a birthday party here and it was FANTASTIC! All the kids had such a great time.
