Our dress code ensures that each dancer is comfortable, safe, and able to move freely during class. Wearing the right attire also helps maintain focus, supports performance, and fosters a sense of respect within our dance community.

Classroom
Guidelines
Please avoid wearing watches, jewelry, or safety pins as they can be distracting. Dance shoes should only be worn indoors to preserve their quality. Hair should be secured neatly away from the face.

Dress Code Items
Most items are available for purchase at Gumnut Dance. Items in blue must be bought from Attitude Dancewear or Bloch.
MINI / RAINBOW
- Light Blue Gumnut Dance Leotard – with an attached skirt or Blue Gumnut Dance t-shirt with black leggings or shorts
- Ballet tights or ballet socks
- Ballet shoes – canvas or leather (for Rainbow, Ballet, and Jazz)
- Tap Shoes – Black Mary Jane style, any brand
JUNIOR / SCRIBBLY
- Light Purple Gumnut Dance Leotard – with an attached skirt or Gumnut Dance t-shirt with black leggings or shorts.
- Ballet tights or ballet socks
- Ballet shoes – canvas or leather (for Scribbly, Ballet, and Jazz)
- Tap Shoes – Black Mary Jane style, any brand
PRE INTERMEDIATE / SNOW
- Dark Purple Gumnut Dance Leotard – with a removable skirt or Gumnut Dance t-shirt with black leggings or shorts.
- Ballet tights or ballet socks
- Ballet shoes – canvas or leather (for Snow, Ballet, and Jazz)
- Tap Shoes – Black Mary Jane style, any brand
INTERMEDIATE / RIBBON / SILVER / GOLD
- Black Leotard- any style/Gumnut Dance Unitard/Gumnut Dance tank top/Gumnut Dance T-Shirt – with choice of black shorts, leggings, or skirt.
- Please note: It is preferred that dancers wear a leotard and skirt for ballet class.
- Ballet tights or ballet socks
- Ballet shoes – canvas or leather (for Ribbon, Silver, Gold and Ballet)
- Jazz shoes – black elastaboot style any brand (Gold )
- Please note: Jazz shoes may also be required for Silver Gumnuts
ADVANCED
Advanced students have no set class uniform but do require pink canvas ballet shoes and black jazz shoes.
WINTER DRESS CODE
- Any combination of the following optional items worn over the above standard dress code during the cooler months of the year. Only these items are to be worn over the standard dress code.
- Gumnut Dance long sleeve shirt in either blue or black
- Gumnut Dance hoodie in either blue or black
- Gumnut Dance sloppy joe in grey.
Winter items are available on an order only basis. Orders are taken periodically throughout the year.
