At Gumnut Dance, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.
We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and child-safe environment where all children feel respected, valued, supported and empowered. We believe every child has the right to participate in dance in an environment that is safe, positive and free from harm.
Gumnut Dance is committed to:
- Providing a safe and supportive environment for all children and young people.
- Following the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.
- Promoting inclusion, respect and belonging for children of all backgrounds, abilities and identities.
- Maintaining clear professional boundaries between staff, volunteers and students.
- Ensuring all staff and volunteers working with children hold appropriate Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registrations where required.
- Providing ongoing child safety education and training for our team.
- Taking all concerns, complaints and disclosures relating to child safety seriously.

Emily is the first point of contact for any child safety concerns, complaints or questions.
Photography and Social Media
Gumnut Dance is committed to protecting children’s privacy.
- Photos and videos are only used in accordance with studio permissions.
- Parents may withdraw media consent at any time by contacting us in writing.
- Staff are expected to maintain appropriate professional boundaries on social media.
Reporting Concerns
If a child, parent, staff member or volunteer has concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing, they are encouraged to speak with Emily Lawrence immediately.
Where required, concerns may also be reported to ACT Care and Protection Services or ACT Police.
Working Together
Creating a child-safe environment is everyone’s responsibility. We ask all families, staff, volunteers and students to help us foster a culture of kindness, respect, inclusion and safety.
