At Gumnut Dance, we believe that every young dancer deserves a space where they can feel excited, happy, and included. Our creative, engaging, and imaginative dance classes are designed to do just that! Your preschooler will be bursting to share their new moves with you after each class.
What Happens in a Preschool Dance Class?
When you leave your dancer with us, you’re giving them a chance to build independence and confidence—important skills to get ready for school. Here’s what a typical class looks like:
- Warm-Up and Stretching: We start each session with gentle stretches and warm up exercises to get everybody moving and ready to dance.
- Ballet and Jazz Basics: Your preschooler will learn foundational steps in both ballet and jazz, helping them develop balance, coordination, and rhythm in a fun and supportive environment.
- Travelling Steps: We incorporate travelling steps to encourage movement across the floor, which helps improve spatial awareness and motor skills.
- Themed Activities: Each term has an engaging theme that inspires creative activities. Whether it’s dancing like animals, pretending to be fairies, or exploring imaginary worlds, these activities help keep learning fun!
- Props Galore: Our classes are filled with props like scarves, ribbons, and musical instruments to add an extra layer of excitement and sensory play.
- End-of-Term Performance: At the end of each term, your child will have the opportunity to perform their class dance for parents. This performance occurs in class at the studio and is a joyful moment that celebrates their progress and gives them a sense of accomplishment.
Why Choose Our Preschool Dance Classes?
- Creative Learning: Our classes nurture creativity and self-expression.
- Social Connection: Children make new friends and learn to work with others.
- School Readiness: Dance helps build focus, independence, and listening skills.
- Fun and Joy: Most importantly, it’s all about having fun while moving and learning!
